Siesta Key 2012: Week 3

Another perfect week at the beach!  It really is the best life!

Unfortunately, we had some extra seaweed this week.  (Thanks to the tropic storms.)

So we moved our 'party' past the seaweed and into the ocean.

Riding with all the stuff to the beach.  One day the wagon was already taken so we had to improvise.  She loved it!  It looks way worse in the pictures.  She had plenty of room and pulled to towel to block the sun in her eyes.

Our sleeping beach beauty. Pink tutu swimsuit and all.

Nora loves the pool every bit as much as the beach.

A typical Nora game...on, off, on, off.

But that 'trick' is far from her best.  Her best is learning to swim...here's a little proof:

Molly & Nate went out of town so their big kids stayed with us for a long weekend.  We had to do something extra special...so we went bowling!  It was Nora's first time.  Of course she was a fan!

Okay, maybe more of a fan of the candy machines.  That is SO Nora.

She had LOTS of help getting her ball and setting it up.

But continued to go back to the candy and game machines. (Thanks to her talented dad she thinks everyone can win toys with the claw.)

Guess who won...yep, Nora!  Smoked them all!

We all got up extra early & headed down to Turtle Beach on Sunday.  It was a very special day for Suzy & Ruby.  They got baptized!  It was perfect...quiet, quick, & very special.  After the baptisms we went back to the beach house for the confirmations & pancakes before it was time to head to church.

Her new silly face.

She loves Ruby & Ruby loves her!

There's that new face, again!

After church we had dinner & dessert.  It was a mini rainbow party.  The girls like the Primary song "When I Am Baptized" (talks about looking for rainbows & baptism) so that was the theme.

Some other fun from this week:
Nora asleep...with her finger up her nose!

With Lucy at Tijuana Flats (after the weekly beach run)

Wearing big girl underwear...2 or 3 pair in fact.

Loving some watermelon!
Lucy bought some cry baby candy with her own money.  The kids all tried to see who could keep it in their mouth the longest.  Nora saw the candy & wanted in.  She also was the winner!  Proof:

Nora loves these cousins so much.  She follows them around and does what ever they do.  Lucky for us, they love her so much, too.  They entertain themselves by entertaining her and teaching her new things.  For example, she learned to sing 'Cheerio' and there was no holding back.

For something different, we had a science day.  We tried a bunch of science experiments I had pinned here.
We had fortune telling drinks.

We made bouncy balls & water 'walk' from one cut to the other.
We made gak.
A couple of experiments weren't so fun.  The rocket bags didn't work.  It didn't work in a plastic bottle either.  Oh well!  We still had fun!

Siesta Key 2012 Week 2

We had a GREAT 2nd week at the beach, (of course!)  We had some special visitors (friends of The Browns & family of The Deavers) part of the week and loved it!  We really missed Aaron, but were glad to have lots going on to make it less miserable without him. (Side note: Trips are so much easier thanks to the great invention of FaceTime.)

Nora's newest BFF, Baby Clark, turned 6 months old this week.  Isn't he the cutest?

The kids loved the slip 'n slide Rara brought to the beach.  Even though it wasn't so easy to slide on.  Even with dishsoap.  I love these pictures...especially the ones that show Nora always getting a push.  The video below shows the perfectly how slippery the slide truly was.

Nora loved meeting a new friend.  They were pretty close in age & it was too cute when they 'played checkers' together at the beach.

We made a special trip to Sweet Berries (after the weekly beach run).  Minus the fact that this was after Nora's worst temper tantrum to date (in public, no less), we enjoyed it!

The week finished off with a special event to delight and entertain us.  The 3 little girls (Lily, Suzy, & Ruby) worked hard on their 'show' for at least a week. They prepared by shopping for the refreshments, making fake money, setting/running the concessions stand, setting up games for the 'after party', and advertising the grand event with signs around the house.  Feeling brave?  Have some extra time?  Need a smile?  The performances are all filmed and the links are below.

Sign says:  On the top of the stairs we will be waiting at 6:00

Other highlights from the week:

Playing games on & off the beach

Sharing favorite things (even Lucy's beloved mimi)

Giving your aunts pedicures with a watering can

Tutu with a few of her favorites

Swimming with Tutu

Smartest idea of the trip...becoming confident at using the potty while at the beach.  Nora loved it and became very quick at stripping down and potty-ing.  You don't have to worry about any mess with accidents or major clean up...it's great!

Snorkeling Ruby

The captain of this boat was snorkeling and got sick.  He managed to make it to shore but not much else.  We found him laying on the sand with one of the boat's passengers.  They found him some water and let him rest until he was feeling better.  We never knew what exactly was wrong but he was really weak and dizzy.  Riley was a great sport and agreed to paddle him (a man at least twice his size) back to his boat.

 This.  Is.  The.  Life.

A new Olympic sport?

Proof of how perfect these two little ones are...beach nappers

And to end this post with a bang, a toddler giant riding in a Barbie van.  =)
