First Christmas Parade
Aaron was hard at work so Nora & I ventured off to the Fort Mill Christmas parade alone. Boy was it long and I would suggest bringing chairs because we got tired of standing. Nora loved it!
There was so much entertainment between kids, music (to dance to), and Christmas decorations. She wanted to wave at everyone, even though no one really noticed her. She loves holidays, what can I say?

High heels girl
Nora has a new obsession. High heels. Several pair are worn each day & all kinds of situations. Here's some evidence:
And in case you're wondering, yes, I am that mom that sometimes lets her wear them to Walmart. The clunking doesn't bother me & she loves all the people telling her how cute she is. I'm embracing this spunky girl all we can!
Speaking of spunky, I'll leave you with this recent Nora-ism:
(in the car)
Mommy: "Nora, you are one spunky little girl."
Nora: "NO!" "I not!"
(Aaron & I look at each other like 'huh?')
Nora: "I not a girl. I a kangaroo."
I call that spunky for sure. =)
Wearing them along while learning to sweep. (In true Cinderella fashion!)
Wearing them while asleep in the car.
Wearing high heels to play outside.
Wearing high heels in bed.
Wearing them while playing...in a box.
And doesn't everyone wear them with their tank top & underwear, while talking on a Minnie Mouse play phone?
Just this week she's taken the obsession to a new level. She snatched shoes right off of April to walk around at church! They were so tall I don't think I could have walked in them. She sure did love April's 'sprinkled' (glittered) shoes!

It's My Potty, I Can Cry If I Want To...
While we were there she got really interested in using the potty. At first it was just on the beach (which made for lots less messes), but then her entourage (aka cousins) brought lots excitement, encouragement, & treats to the big potty. She only used it a couple times a day at this point. I didn't want to push it too hard since we had a long car ride at the end of the trip. When we got home we went into potty training mode. If she wasn't able to hold it and interested in going on the toilet a few times a day, I wouldn't have started. This girl is a stubborn little sassy pants! Some days it seemed like all I did was clean up her messes. Eventually (with the help of candy) she got it. In the mean time she came up with all kinds of places to potty (her pink potty moved wherever in the house, her potty, or Mommy & Daddy's potty) and all kinds of outfits to go with her big girl underwear.
Once she got peeing down, she still had accidents pooping in her pants so we decided to go big. I told her she could have a lollipop whenever she pooped in the potty. The first time was at April & Travis' house and even though it was just a tiny bit...we celebrated big! We went to the store and let her pick out whatever lollipop she wanted. Apparently she believes in the philosophy 'go big or go home'. Love her!
All is well now, with the occasional accident. Boy am I glad that we're over the worst of it!

Two. Unbelievable.
Sometimes it is hard to believe that our sweet girl is two. She is though. I like to think of it as exciting and a good thing. She is growing and learning very fast! I'd rather enjoy it than be sad about it. Now, maybe after she's finished with first grade I'll feel differently but there's plenty I still can't wait to teach her!
Here are some pictures from her actual birthday (April 2nd)...

Pancakes & Pajamas
On Saturday, March 31st we celebrated our big girl's 2nd birthday! We chose a Pancakes & Pajamas theme. This girl loves any food & clothes so it works. I wanted to choose any easy theme/party so it was perfect! Nora really, honestly enjoyed it! She was a perfect birthday girl...from greeting all the guests to eating in her spot. She even gave them hugs for her presents! The only downside to this party was the time. 9am on a Saturday isn't the easiest. We had to get up extra early to get the room set up & the guests had wake up early to make it to the party! Aaron's mom helped us rent a room at the Leroy Springs Complex for the party since our house is not quite big enough for all our family & friends to come eat breakfast. It worked out well! Since we all know I have a hard time choosing which pictures to post, I made a few collages. I'm hoping you can click on it to make it bigger if you want to see a small picture. Here it goes:
| Birthday Girl |
For decorations we used pink & blue. I made lots of paper pennants to decorate a big space with little effort and a few signs about pancakes/hotcakes. (Due to time flying by before the party, we probably used 1/3 of the pennants I made!) We covered the tables with plastic tablecloths (hello, syrup) & added wrapping paper runners. I love the paper! We also were able to get small tables from the preschool for the kids to have their own table...it was great! The pink tablecloth the food is on is what I spent a lot of my time & money on. At about 1am the night before we decided it wasn't going to get finished in time. It has one ruffle on it...still needs 5 more! I bet if you pay attention you'll see it make another appearance at a party soon enough. I can't wait for it to be finished...it's going to be soo cute!

After everyone ate we played a few games. The first was a pancake race. I made some felt pancakes that the kids carried on a spatula. Nora & her friends her age had lots of fun just walking around & holding them. =) (This is about when my camera died! Thankfully Aunt Laura saved the day by taking pictures for me!!)
Then, we made cereal necklaces. Nora enjoyed eating the Fruit Loops by the scoopful. Right out of the bowl. Here's her Aunt Christie helping some of the kids make them.
We also read a story. It's one of my favorite children's authors: Laura Numeroff. Children's books really make me miss teaching first grade. We used to do a unit on her since she has so many good ones & they teach important concepts like cause & effect. This was Nora's guest book for this year. All the guest got a chance to sign it & write a little note to her. I love it.
Finally, we got to eat cake! Nora's {practically} Aunt April made her cake. She did a great job! She even had to squeeze it in between working, which is a feat in itself! Nora had some help blowing out the candles (twice), but she didn't seem to mind. Around the cake table were the favors. Curious George Makes Pancakes for the kids & sugar cookies made to look like short stacks for everyone.
Last but certainly not least, Nora opened presents. She definitely made out like a bandit! She really likes opening presents these days & insists on pausing after each to try it on or look through it. She did a great job of showing her guests how much she loved & appreciated the gifts! When all was said & done she walked out the door in a complete different outfit than the one she wore to her party!
One present she got was extra....extra-special...extraordinary...extreme...! Her present from PeePaw & G.Viv isn't available yet (wooden play kitchen) so they brought something far more entertaining. She got 2 baby chicks! They were 2 and 4 days old & oh so cute! It was perfect for Easter! We aren't sure what we're going to do with them yet (or whether their hens or roosters). They have to stay with their heat lamp for several weeks...stay tuned.
We are blessed with such great family & friends! So many people love Nora & came out to celebrate with us. We love you all & are so glad you could come. We are especially grateful for all those that helped with the party! Thanks for celebrating this special occasion with us...it was fabulous!

Most of March
So far March has been great! We continue to stay busy with even more traveling and adventures. We went back to TN for another wedding at the beginning. Aaron had a job to do there so we stayed longer and enjoyed it. Nora has several new friends there and learns to get into all kinds of messes.

Since we were there before the wedding, we got to help with some of the preparations. We did little things like ironing to decorating. Nora was in the middle of it all.

Our St. Patrick's Day celebrations weren't big this year. Nora did get a new crown, thanks to Lala. She started celebrating early...even pulling out her pig tails to wear the crown in the middle of Party City. On St. Patty's Day we managed to squeeze a trip to a special benefit for a local baby (TW) at a local petting zoo & she was in heaven. (You many recognize the 'zoo' from a trip last summer while our cousins were visiting.)

A few random pictures from March so far:
This girl LOVES cereal. And yes, it does make quite a mess.

For Dr. Seuss' birthday we had a special breakfast of green eggs & ham. Nora liked it!

At IHOP for her first kids meal. She ate every single bite.

Nora likes to help me in the kitchen. One day we were baking cookies and she really learned to not touch the hot cookie sheet (after I repeatedly stressed to her how hot they are & not to touch!). Unfortunately, it was because she got burned on her arm when she reached across the pan! Our poor, sweet girl stayed tough but it definitely hurt. (Side note: If you get burned, put egg white on it immediately...no blistering for this girl!)

On a happier note, here's a picture I found of Nora & Daddy taking pictures of themselves together on the iPod. Love.
