Siesta Key 2012: Week 4

The last week at the beach...always one of the most exciting (usually when everyone is there) and the saddest week because it's almost over.

Some highlights of the week {worth mentioning first}:

Aaron came!  We missed him a lot and it was finally time for him to fly back to Sarasota.  It was exciting for everyone, but especially Nora & I.

The SPA opened!  Some of the girls decided to be entrepreneurs {very affordable ones, too} and the adults could not have been happier.  I know Aaron was glad when he discovered it!

We made 'elephant toothpaste'.

We took turns (okay not Nora or I) on Nate's new scooter.

We ventured to the 'town' part of Siesta Key one evening.  I have to admit this was really my first time & we've been to Siesta Key for 9 years!  We went to The Old Salty Dog which was shown on Man vs. Food. We also shopped a little, ate some yummy little doughnuts from a doughnut stand (that reminded me of the banana stand from Arrested Development), and had ice cream at the popular Big Olaf.

Girls, girls, girls.
Doughnuts!

Yummy ice cream!
Of course we had lots of beach time...

We loved having Baby Clark to play with!
A tandem bike for a day?  Sure!

A girl's gotta go, when a girls's gotta go!

A sand couch, of course!

Isn't that sweet??

One of my FAVORITE pictures from this summer!

The hat made a come back...

The Deavers brought a neat kite to fly.  Everyone loved watching it get put together and flown.

Since Aaron was available, there was lots of pool time too.  These kids all love when Aaron comes into to town!  There's nothing quite like hanging on him and being flipped so high.  He is really loved by them and must really love them to do that many throws in the air.  =)  The best part for Aaron was that we got to show him Nora's new trick of swimming without floaties. We're so proud of her.

Nora hurt her booty on the stair & asked Aaron to kiss it.  Haha.

Jumping in really does a number on her bathing suit!
Unfortunately the month ended, as it always does.  The first people we said goodbye to was The Browns.

Eventually we all left, but before we did we stayed a couple extra days with The Johnsons.  Baby Clark entertained us all.  When he was sleeping, Ruby & her sweet friend entertained Nora (in the 'hair salon') and Aaron helped Nate with a little project in the garage.

I believe in saving the best for last, so here it is:  Toddlers & Tiaras Night

We planned it most of the month.  It lived up to the excitement for Nora at least.  To say she loved it is putting it mildly.  We found pettiskirts and tutus online.  We shopped at the mall for glitter, earrings, and accessories.  It was all exciting.  The day the pettiskirts came in the mail Ruby, Suzy, & Lily went with me for a special car ride to get them.  Yes, we did listen to the music really loud and dance.  Yes, we did open the box and the girls had complete outfit changes before we made it back to the beach house.

We spent the next couple of days bedazzling their leotard tops for the special show.  Yes, you read that right...bedazzling!  Who knew they sold those at the craft stores these days?  Oh and there were lots of trying on of the outfits and accessories.  Especially Nora trying on all the other girls' stuff.

Trying on Lucy's clip earrings...that's pure excitement.
Before I get to the videos of the actual event...here are some pictures:

Getting Ready...it was chaos at it's finest.

Lots of practicing...

Practicing 'pretty hands'

 The audience patiently watching...

Only the best of Daddys will do that!

The pageant:
One final procession for the judges turns into...a dance party.
The winners were announced.  Even grand supreme.
Haven't seen enough of Nora's dancing?  Maybe you can guess the song of the summer (which is still Nora's current favorite).
A big thanks to Beau, our announcer, and Riley, our escort.  They did a fabulous job.

Fun was had by all.  Along with some delicious Yoder's pie.

Isn't family the best? We have such a great time every time we all get together.  We have the best family!  Now to end this post with a bang...this is what happens when your older cousin lets you play with their rubber band gun.  She loves you, Riley!

Bang.  You're dead.
