Auntie Lani (and Uncle Aaron)

So, I am finally an Aunt!  It's not from either of my siblings though.  One of Aaron's sisters has 4 kids ages 3 and under!  She definitely has her hands full.  We love them all dearly and try to help out when we can.  One of them was spending a lot of time with us.  We have a play pen for her to sleep in, diapers, extra clothes, sippy cups, Gerber snacks, a toothbrush...every thing she could need for a few days!  We were taking her one night a weekend until the twins came home.  (That's when she became more attached to her mom and cried more over here...Aaron can't handle the crying and hasn't wanted to keep her overnight since.)  Ellie is so cute!  She makes the cutest faces like scrunching her nose when you say "make a mean face" or "do your nose".  Sometimes (often I'll admit) she makes a mean face at me with her eyebrows down.  I'm not sure if she really cares what I'm saying or if she just does it to me because I do it right back.  Hey, it gets her to stop usually!  =)  Some of you have asked what Ellie looks like.  Here she is!   Our child that we borrow sometimes.  She is a chunker.  It's not hard for people to imagine that she could be ours.  She LOVES Aaron and they do resemble each other.  She's now about 18 months old and  a squealing machine---just be glad you can't hear her in those pictures.    She is a natural born mama.  She takes care of her little baby dolls, feeding them, burping them, and kissing them.  She likes her little baby brothers too.  She is so lovable...WE LOVE HER!

Green Eggs & Ham

For those of you that are not daily enveloped in children's literature and activities...March 3rd was Dr. Seuss' birthday.  It is an IMPORTANT and EXCITING day in any 1st grade classroom.  His books are silly, fun, entertaining, well loved, AND they focus on TONS of literacy standards 1st graders are taught.  So ONE of the MANY activities we did in my classroom was with Green Eggs and Ham.  We read the book and and made a t-chart describing green eggs and ham before and after we ate it and categorized each statement as either a fact or opinion.  (Yes, the chart was shaped and decorated to be a fried green egg).  I know yall are not looking for lesson plan ideas but I had to share the green eggs we ate.  It was some Redi-Whip squirted on a plate with a scoop of lime sherbet in the middle.  It looked close enough and was something my picky students would actually eat!  They LOVED it!!  Thought you might like a tiny glimpse of life inside Mrs. Dunnam's classroom...=)

HARRIS TEETER DEALS

Alright, for those of you who have Harris Teeter---I've got a deal for you!  Until March 12th (I think...) they are having a sale on Palermo's pizza!!  If you buy 2, you get 3 FREE!  And...here's a coupon for $1 off.  (If the link doesn't work email me and I'll email back with the coupon attached.)Print 5 coupons and you should get $5 off!!!  We figure it's about $6 or $7 a pizza so that's $12-$14 for the 2 you buy and then 3 free---PLUS $5 off with 5 coupons so that's $7-$9 for 5 scrumption frozen pizzas.  We really like the thin crust special edition pepperoni, but they all are pretty tasty!  Enjoy!

**Oh yeah and they also have the same deal of Birds Eye Steamfresh veggies --buy 2 get 3 free and they have milk for $2.47 or something a gallon during this deal**

Uh, I guess you could call it sharing...

At the "Sisters Only" retreat my mom did last weekend I guess I shared some of my things unwillingly.  I was caught up in doing things with my mom and Grandma Sharon that I neglected my bed set-up.  Someone saw MY pillow, somehow not knowing it was mine, and let this friendly lady use it.  When I went to bed at 2am I looked everywhere for it and then spotted it across the room...UNDER HER HEAD!  Yeah, I didn't want to switch her for a different pillow.  I just sucked it up (after texting Aaron a pic of it laughing) and slept with a small travel pillow.  Funny thing:  the pillowcase is one I got as a wedding gift.  It says "Mrs." on the middle and "Lani" on the side opening.  Who would have guessed it was mine...???  =)

March Movie Madness: Redbox Style

FYI:  Every Wednesday in March Redbox has a free movie rental code.  Just visit http://blog.redbox.com to get the code.  One will be posted each Wednesday.  This is in addition to the Free Movie Mondays where they text you a code for a free rental each Monday!  WE (Aaron especially) LOVE REDBOX!!  And I might add...Redbox LOVES us too...we rarely return a movie the next day before 9pm, so they make money on us.  Good news:  It's only $1.07 each time!!

SNOW...not sure how I feel about it...

So, it has officially SNOWED this Winter!  Here in SC we don't see much snow.  Usually snowflakes fall at least once a year and it ALWAYS ices.  Well, this year (lucky us) we've had TWO SNOW DAYS!

The first one (Jan. 20th?) it didn't really snow...it just iced bad enough that they were worried the buses wouldn't be able to travel safely.  Honestly, I needed the day off.  Report cards were due the next day and I was not NEAR ready!!  I was a little bummed about the snow day though...it meant we had to have school on President's Day and wouldn't have a day off until Good Friday before our Spring Break started!

Hold on...then it snowed (Sunday night).  This time it snowed and snowed and snowed.  We went to my mom's for dinner (as usual on Sunday) and got snowed in.  Now it wasn't a ton of snow, but for SC it meant everything is shut down.  Lucky for my mom, us getting snowed in meant we HAD to be there to help her clean up some of her house so they can start showing it.  Well, this snow day was nice because I had been sleep deprived for a while and needed some time to just RELAX.

But all good things come with a price.  NOW WE HAVE SCHOOL ON GOOD FRIDAY!  The worst part of it all...that means not a SINGLE day off until Spring Break the week after Easter!  My students and I are going to need that break sooner than it can get here!  Oh, but the really good news about snow...we got a delay the next day!  As Aaron teaches little kids to say "That's what I'm talking about!"  You get counted for the day, you sleep in, everyones happy and excited to be there and you prioritize the important learning things.  See...Why wouldn't everyone want to live in South where it RARELY snows?!?
